As much as it pains me to do it, I have to put spoiler masks around pretty much all of this article. There may still be some lost Amazonian tribes out there who do not yet know what happens to Gwen Stacey in the official Spider-Man lore. And no, I don't know how those tribes got internet access. Anyone who has remotely heard of Spider-Man most likely knows what major plot point is due in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. If you do not know, and want to remain completely pure, you should probably stop reading now and do not watch the video.
OK, so now they're gone, we can talk about it. So Gwen Stacey should, according to the Stan Lee comics, be due a pretty gruesome demise in the next installment of the (which is an awesome name for a Spider-Man director) Spidey trilogy. We already know has arrived to play the role of Mary Jane Watson, the love rival to 's Gwen. So, surely the wheels of death have been put into motion?
However, in a recent interview with MTV, Stone revealed that maybe we've gotten a bit ahead of ourselves. As well as telling us about her relationship to Woodley, she also enigmatically suggests Gwen might not be getting the chop as soon as we had expected. Check it out below:
Originally, we had all assumed Gwen was scheduled to die, however this recent interview might suggest we won't see her being killed off in the second movie after all. In the comics her death is caused by the Green Goblin. At the moment, the only confirmed villain is Electro (played by ), however the presence of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 does suggest the Green Goblin is on the way. Whether he'll be in this movie, or the next one is still open to speculation. So get speculating!
To find out for sure, I guess we'll have to wait until The Amazing Spider-Man 2 premieres on May 2, 2014. However, which way would you prefer the trilogy to go? Should it stick closely to the comics, or should Marc Webb be able to alter it? Let us know below!
