In a surprising turn of events, Emma Watson seems to have taken a page out of Justin Bieber's book and revealed that she refuses to take photos with fans.

However, unlike the Biebster — who is bordering on becoming a colossal twat if his recent treatment of fans is anything to go by — the princess actually has a legitimate reason for her decision. Recently, the actress spoke to Vanity Fair, where she admitted the following:

"For me, it's the difference between being able to have a life and not. If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they've created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 metres. They can see what I'm wearing and who I'm with."

She then continued:

"I just can't give that tracking data ... I'll say, 'I will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have but I just can't do a picture'."

Admittedly, the Harry Potter star has a point and we can't deny that should a sneaky social media post crop up on our feed, we would probably also jump at the chance to surround her like a swarm of hungry locusts.

Ultimately, although we may lament the choice, Watson's desire to protect her privacy is totally understandable.

During the interview, also revealed that she tries her best to keep her boyfriend out of the limelight too, defending her decision to refuse to talk about him during interviews. She said:

"I want to be consistent: I can't talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home. You can't have it both ways."

Having said that though, the alumni does have exceptions to her no-selfie rule, especially when children approach her. She said:

"I have to carefully pick and choose my moment to interact. When am I a celebrity sighting versus when am I going to make someone's freakin' week? Children I don't say no to, for example."

Beauty and the Beast hits theatres on March 17 — here's the trailer:
