Summer is officially over — it's time to bid farewell to the beach, rope swings and cold drinks. And while we tearfully say goodbye to the sunny season, anime fans can still rejoice: a new English-dubbed anime season is about to start.

Even though fall began at the end of September with the autumn equinox, it's not until recently that companies such as FUNimation have released their fall English-dubbed schedule. The new season welcomes supernatural creatures, NEETS, survivor gamers and everything else in between. But, what exactly should you watch? We're here to help. Here are six English-dubbed anime to watch this fall 2017.

5. 'Black Clover'

  • Genre: Action, Comedy, Magic, Fantasy, Shounen
  • Studio: Studio Pierrot

Synopsis: In a world where everyone posses the ability to perform magic, Asta is born without any. Along with his friend Yuno, they compete to become the Wizard King, the strongest Magic Knight of the Clover Kingdom. However, with no powers, Asta's journey is much more difficult, especially when he doesn't receive a grimoire — only confirming that he doesn't have any magical potential. But this all changes, as Asta's fate takes an unexpected twist when a rogue mage attacks his friend. Asta unlocks something beyond his and anyone's greatest imagination.

Why you should watch it: Studio Pierrot has a stellar reputation for releasing high-quality anime series, such examples include Tokyo Ghoul, and Kingdom to name a few. With such an amazing track record, the chances are that Black Clover will be an exciting anime to watch this fall.

4. 'The Ancient Magus’ Bride'

  • Genre: Slice of Life, Magic, Fantasy, Shounen
  • Studio: Wit Studio

Synopsis: At the tender age of 16, Chise Hatori has experienced many tragedies. From the loss of her family to being sold at an auction, Chise has little hope that her life would change for the better. But during the darkest time in her life, a mysterious magus named Elias Ainsworth appears before her. Taking an interest in her propensity for magic, Elias presents to Chisa a life-changing offer: to become his apprentice and also his bride.

Why you should watch it: With a soft launch (just 3 episodes) this past summer, several OVA releases and the marketing hype behind the show, fans are excited for the fall series. Now, that it has officially premiered, The Ancient Magus’ Bride has become a must-see anime series due to it's similarities to Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast and its dreamlike animation.

3. 'Garo: Vanishing Line'

  • Genre: Action, Demons, Supernatural, Fantasy
  • Studio: MAPPA

Synopsis: Garo: Vanishing Line continues the story of the Makai Knights, but this time around, the story takes place in the present day in the bustling metropolis of Russel City. Here we meet Sophie, who's been searching the city for her missing brother. Her only clue is the mysterious words, "El Dorado." But in a place such as Russel City, many things go bump in the night. Luckily, she meets Sword, a Makai Knight who fights these creatures and who also wants to know the truth behind "El Dorado."

Why you should watch it: There's no need to worry if you're not familiar with the Garo series, as Vanishing Line — like the other series in the franchise — is a standalone anime about a new Makai Knight. But that isn't the only reason you should watch. Vanishing Line is a tribute to '80s action animated series. The main character is a big guy with unbelievably huge muscles that goes around kicking demon tushie. That's not all, as several other '80s anime tropes also come to play in Vanishing Line.

2. 'Recovery Of An MMO Junkie'

  • Genre: Comedy, Game, Romance
  • Studio: Signal. MD

Synopsis: At 30-years-old, Moriko Morioka is a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). To escape her sad reality, Morioka spends her time playing the online game Fruits de Mer and she even starts an online life as the handsome character Hayashi. While exploring her new world, she gets tips from the beautiful Lily, who develops feelings for Hayashi. But this new online crush has real-life consequences.

Why you should watch it: Recovery of an MMO Junkie is a modern-day romance anime with a touch of nerdiness. In the first episode, the difference between the main characters is like night and day. However, their chemistry and personalities make you root for them and see how their love story develops throughout the series.

1. 'Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond'

  • Genre: Action, Super Power, Supernatural, Vampire, Fantasy, Shounen
  • Studio: Bones

Synopsis: One of the most-anticipated fall 2017 anime is the wacky and bloody anime series Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond. Season 2 will focus on the relationship between the main character, Leonardo Watch, and his sister, Michella. The mystery of how the president's head is missing (he's still alive) brings some unwelcome company to Libra.

Why you should watch it: It's an action-packed reunion from the first season. Beyond continues with the over-the-top adventures of Leonardo and the members of Libra, which are masterfully brought to life by a very talented team of animators. Also, the chances that a few exciting stories (werewolves) from the manga could make their way into the anime. Let's just hope that there are no more delays.

With Western companies such as taking notice of the increasing popularity of English-dubbed anime, the chances are that foreign language fans will have much more original content to watch each season. In the meantime, fans will have to wait patiently for next season for a whole new batch anime shows and movies, or check out what the previous season had to offer.
