After an agitated search that included an attempt to secure 's thespian skills, has now recruited to play the lead villain in upcoming western movie, Jane Got a Gun

This piece of casting news hopefully means an end to the ups and downs of the movie's production. left the project pretty early on when director dropped out on the first day of shooting after a bust-up with the producers. O'Connor then stepped in, after which got cold feet about his angtagonistic lead role and moved on. Then, we heard that Cooper was game for a bit of villainy, but he dropped out pretty soon after...

But, according to The Playlist, all's well that ends well... Hopefully. McGregor's arrival could add a dose of much-needed confidence to the project. Plus, there's an actor that definitely has the chops.

If you haven't heard much about this one yet, here's the Jane Got a Gun synopsis:

Natalie Portman stars as Jane Hammond, the wife of an outlaw, who gets shot down by his own posse, a gang called the Bishop Boys, and barely makes it home alive. To protect her home and her family, she has to team up with her gunslinging ex-lover Dan Frost.

Like the sound of the movie? Even if not, at least it will give Star Wars fans the reunion between Obi Wan-Kenobi and Queen Amidala they've been waiting for...
