There could be an unexpected journey waiting for Hobbit fans...a museum dedicated to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings! In New Zealand. There's always a catch, isn't there?
However, Hobbit devotees the world over have already shown their love for the Tolkienverse, with Lord of the Rings themed tours contributing massively to the New Zealand tourist industry. The beloved characters are even on Kiwi coins!
That is a seriously cool country right there.
There's not a whole lot of details confirmed yet for the Lord of the Rings attraction but John Morrison, city Councillor Wellington, New Zealand expressed his enthusiasm for the project:
From a Wellington point of view, we're very thrilled about it being in Wellington. We're not involved directly, but we've had a very interested eye on the process.
I don't think anyone is yelling and screaming to get it done, but they're looking at two options at the moment.
Morrison may be wrong about this one. Tolkien fans tend to be a little on the enthusiastic side. For example, this:
Tolkien is the gift that keeps on giving for fantasy lovers, with The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug expected to follow in the furry footsteps of its predecessor in pulling big numbers at the box office.
