"The Infamous Harley Quinn" a.k.a. Australian cosplayer Laura Gilbert has risen quickly to the top of the Harley Quinn cosplay mountain (and trust me, this mountain is larger than you may think). This credit can be due to her stunning similarity in looks to Margot Robbie and her dead-on portrayal of Robbie's Harley Quinn. It's also worth noting that she is incredibly humble for the amount of fame she currently has.

Recently, Laura was kind enough to answer a few questions I had for her regarding her cosplay life and her advice she has for those looking to join the world of costume-clad, heroes, heroins and villains.

BT: What originally got you inspired to join the world of cosplay?

"I have always enjoyed dressing up, but never had the guts to cosplay at a convention. I bought tickets to Sydney Comic-Con and told myself I would go to my first 'con’ regardless if I cosplayed or not! I was originally planning on going as Daenerys Targaryen from 'Game of Thrones,' but after watching 'Suicide Squad' I fell absolutely in love with Margot’s portrayal of Harley and there was no looking back."

BT: So, your Harley Quinn look is quickly becoming well-known due to your similarities to Margot Robbie, what are your thoughts on that?

"I personally don’t feel like I resemble Margot without Harley’s hair and makeup! I was actually rather surprised when people started saying I looked like Margot because she is an absolute goddess. It is an insanely huge compliment and I don’t feel like I will ever get my head around it!"

BT: Does it feel sort of cool to achieve this level of a celebrity?

"I never expected my social media to explode like this. I do not feel like a 'celebrity.' I am still plain old Laura! I must say it has been really challenging to keep up with it all. Being a full-time student, part-time teacher and avid musician, I have hardly had time to even think about it."

BT: What's your favorite part of cosplaying thus far?

"Meeting the beautiful people! It is a surreal feeling seeing peoples faces light up when they see me, especially the children! It is so awesome meeting Harley Quinn fans as well because I am a huge fan girl too."

BT: What's your biggest tip for those aspiring to cosplay Harley Quinn?

"Make sure you act just as crazy and bubbly as Harley! That definitely adds to the whole package and it will shine through past the costume!"

BT: Are there any other characters that you wish to cosplay?

"So many! I definitely want to try and cosplay as many versions of Harley as I can before I move onto different characters. I would love to explore cosplaying more women from the DC universe too because DC girls rock!"

BT: Will you be coming to America anytime soon?

"I wish! It would be an absolute dream to. Unfortunately, student life makes for a very tight budget so once I save enough; it is definitely my No. 1 destination!"

BT: What's the hardest part of being a cosplayer?

"I am extremely new to cosplay so I am still learning things about the community, conventions and cosplay in general. The hardest part for me so far has been juggling my normal life with cosplay life. It can be very expensive and time consuming if you’re not careful!"

BT: Lastly, a very important question (and I’m sure many fans want to know) is will you be participating in Harleyween, the name for this year's Halloween?

"Yes and no. I have something in the works. It will be Harley inspired, but that is all I will say! I just hope I can get it all ready in time. If not, I will definitely debut it soon!"

Sounds like Laura has a lot in store for us! To stay updated with her follow her on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat: lauragbert!
