Now, if you really want to get a devoted fan of modern-day DC Comics going, get them started on the subject of who should play Jason Todd in the DCEU. A one-time Robin who was seemingly killed by The Joker, only to reappear years later as the distinctly antiheroic Red Hood, Todd is one of the most unusually beloved modern DC characters out there, and one whose fans are highly protective of his potential transition to the big screen. As such, it's perhaps a little surprising to hear that...

There's Now A Petition For Shia LaBeouf To Play Jason Todd In The DCEU

Yup, that's right. That Shia LeBeouf.

The one made famous by the Transformers movies, Even Stevens, and doing stuff like slapping a guy during a performance art piece and filming himself watching all of his own movies (pictured, above).

And, yes, we're talking about that Jason Todd. The iconic one, beloved by fans the world over.

Y'see, while some fans have been clamoring for Todd (or, rather, the Red Hood) to appear in the DCEU for awhile now, what with the Joker having apparently already "killed" him before the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and all, one devoted Red Hood-iphile just went one step further, and set up a petition...

To make Shia LaBeouf the new cinematic Red Hood.

In it, the petitioner — redhoodinc — argues that LaBeouf is fundamentally underrated as an actor, and would be a perfect piece of casting were the DCEU to adapt Todd's story in the near future. Which, is actually not a terrible logic. LaBeouf certainly can act, and would surely bring a manic, physical intensity to the role that an on-screen Red Hood would benefit from.

Is this one of those unlikely ideas that could actually happen, then? Well, that's likely entirely up to you. At the time of writing, the petition has only 1,874 signatories, which is probably far fewer than it would need to find itself anywhere near the radar of key decision-makers like Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck. If you'd very much like to see LaBeouf step into the DCEU, then, you can sign the petition right here.

Who knows, if enough people sign, it might even somehow sway the thinking of the higher ups at Warner Bros. Whether that's a good thing or not, however, remains entirely up to you.

Want more on the confirmed future of the DCEU, though? Well, fear not — we've got all your Justice League-related needs covered over here.

And, in the meantime, what do you think? Would LaBeouf be a good choice to play Red Hood? Let us know below!
