Last week, horror fans were thrilled to find out will be stalking his way back to theaters next year in a new Halloween movie, which means Dr. Loomis can't be far behind.

While casting details for the upcoming film have not yet been announced, some fans are already know the actor they want to play the part of Loomis and they're letting it be known loud and clear – Robert Englund.

A Change.org petition was recently created urging the makers of the new film to cast Englund as the man who took on Myers and it's already more than halfway to its goal.

Here's what it says:

This petition was created to allow fans of the Halloween series a direct say in a very salient part of the next film.

In short, we think none other than the original Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, would be the perfect person to play Dr. Samuel Loomis. He has the look, the age, and the of course, the acting skills, to play Michael Myers most dedicated foe.

Of course, this is considering the fact that Dr. Loomis might not play a role in the next film, and Mr. Englund could ultimately decide he isn't up for the part - IF it's available.

So with all things considered, let's make this happen Blumhouse!

Englund as Dr. Loomis would be a nightmare (that's a good thing) come true. He's the perfect casting choice and here's why.

He Looks Dr. Loomis-ish

Englund has a very natural Dr. Loomis look to him. It could be his beard, his age, or the intense eye power he possesses (Loomis is the kind of character who can convince others with the power of his eyes). Englund has got exactly what an actor would need to bring the character to life in a new Halloween movie.

He's Got The Acting Chops

began studying acting at twelve years old and is a classically-trained actor. So it's obvious he has a deep love for the art, which explains why he's in more films than we can count.

When it comes down to it, I can't see why Robert shouldn't play the role. Dr. Loomis is a character that needs the proper portrayal to really push the film forward, and Mr. Englund has the acting chops to do just that.

In the film Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon Englund plays a character that was extremely similar to Dr. Loomis. From the look, to the voice, and even the attitude, Englund proves he has an excellent Dr. Loomis lurking within him.

In the video below, you can see the similarities between Robert in 'Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon', and Donald Pleasance in the original Halloween 1 & 2.

What do you think? Is Robert Englund the perfect fit for Dr. Loomis or does his Freddy fame get in the way of his potential to play the part?
