2016 has been a pretty amazing year for women in movies and television. Paul Feig's controversial Ghostbusters featured an all-female team starting Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, who seriously kicked some major ghost ass. There's also some buzz around the upcoming Star Wars film Rouge One staring Felicity Jones. To keep this badass women power excitement going, we're counting down the top 10 female-driven movies we're most excited for in 2017.

10. 'The Circle'

With a trailer released just yesterday, James Ponsoldt's starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks definitely caught our attention. This film feels like a sci-fi thriller version of The Social Network, only this time it's starring a completely capable woman working to uncover the secrets of an (evil?) tech company. It also features Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy's Karen Gillan, who we're sure will add a fun twist to the story.

The Circle's expected release date is April 2017. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you think it's worthy of being on our list:

9. 'Rock That Body'

There hasn't been a ton of talk about this upcoming 2017 comedy, but we absolutely love what we have heard. Lucia Aniello makes her directorial debut in this star-studded comedy featuring Zoë Kravitz, Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Demi Moore, Jillian Bell, and Ilana Glazer. We're positive this female-driven film will be hilarious, and we can't wait.

8. 'Pitch Perfect 3'

With female-centered Pitch Perfect 1 & 2 being the huge successes that they are, it's no surprise that is in the works. We know very little about the story line or even characters in this film, but with writer Kay Cannon on board we're sure it'll be a success.

Rumored actors in this film include Lea Michele, Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and even Justin Bieber. We're hoping some of the old cast like Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson pop up in this new film as well.

7. 'Underworld: Blood Wars'

Another multi-million dollar franchise on our list: Underworld. Kate Beckinsale is back and better than ever in the new trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars. And girlfriend's got a vengeance. See for yourself below. We're also super excited to see Anna Foerster's directorial debut, making this the first Underworld directed by a woman.

6. 'Power Rangers'

Power Ranger Fans: Unite! We're literally squealing in our seats while watching this trailer. Holy cow. Not only does the entire film look amazing, but we're pretty sure singer/songwriter turned actress Becky G and English actress Naomi Scott are going to kill it as Yellow and Pink Ranger.

Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect's Elizabeth Banks is definitely one of our favorite actresses, but there's some whitewashing controversy surrounding her casting as Rita Repulsa.

5. 'Star Wars Episode VIII'

OK, so Star Wars: The Force Awakens was definitely one of our favorites of 2015 because how could it not be? Our favorite part: Rey. Being a scavenger. Using the force. Fighting some serious First Order ass. She's a strong character young girls and women can really look up to as inspiration, and we can't wait to see more of her in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Our biggest question: Who are Rey's parents?

4. 'Beauty And The Beast'

Another Emma Watson film hitting our list: Beauty and the Beast. We're a little tiny bit worried about how this one is going to go. Based on the trailer, the film itself looks like a beautiful take on the Disney classic. Belle is an adventurous and intelligent woman who doesn't need a man (until she meets Beast). We're hoping that this Bill Condon film moves away from the Stockholm Syndrome-feel of the Disney classic and heads more in the direction of a love story where appearance doesn't matter.

3. 'Kidnap'

We already know that Halle Berry is a super tough chick, but now she's a giving some true power to the words "mama bear." In the upcoming action film, her character takes matters into her own hands when her son is kidnapped right in front of her. She stops at nothing to find him.

Playing out every mother's worst fear, we're positive this is going to be one of the toughest, mother-with-a-vengeance films we've seen yet. Check out the trailer here.

2. 'Ghost In The Shell'

This Rupert Sanders sci-fi film, based off of the Japanese media franchise with the same name, looks incredibly beautiful and action packed. Scarlett Johansson plays a human cyborg, who leads a task forced called Section 9. We're seriously getting some Lucy vibes from the trailer:

Scarlett Johansson looks totally badass and we can't wait to see her kick some butt. What do you think about the controversy surrounding her casting as The Major?

1. 'Wonder Woman'

is arguably one of the most anticipated films of the year. The superhero film directed by Patty Jenkins starring Gal Godot is the fourth film in the DC Cinematic Universe. We're feeling some super female power coming from the team behind the scenes and can't wait to see Diana Prince in her own film.

Batman v Superman has left some skeptics wondering if the Wonder Woman film will be as female powered as the comics.
