Production on The Walking Dead Season 4 kicked off on Monday as cast and crew gathered in Senoia, Georgia for the first day of filming. The new season sees Scott M. Gimple take over showrunner duties from Glen Mazzara and he tweeted an update for all the fans of the show:
Day 1:S4:TWD, complete. We even did some of the bonus levels.— Scott M. Gimple (@ScottMGimple) May 7, 2013
However, filming on a show that takes place during a zombie apocalypse brings with it a particular set of challenges. Namely, trying to keep background noise, such as airplanes away from the cameras:
As u hear aeroplanes fly overhead, keep a kind thought 4 the difficulties of those who record scenes of dialogue set after the world’s end.— Scott M. Gimple (@ScottMGimple) May 8, 2013
From the sounds of things, some scenes have already required re-shoots due to inappropriate background noise.
ComicBook.com is also reporting that loads of extras have been seen on set as well as the Governor's truck, suggesting that we could be seeing a zombie herd and the return of the one-eyed maniac relatively early in the new season.
I can't wait.
