The Defenders is less than four months away, and fans are getting more and more excited to see Marvel's four Netflix heroes come together to save New York City. Something that's stood out for a lot of people, however, has been the team's lack of costumes. So far, the only hero with comic book-accurate attire is Daredevil, despite the fact that Danny Rand sports a very snazzy costume in the comics.
After Season 1 of Iron Fist, there have been some conflicting reports regarding the martial artist receiving his signature costume. Earlier in the year, Finn Jones stated there was still a long road ahead of Danny's evolution before the MCU would get to it:
"The first couple of episodes you see Danny kind of awkwardly fitting into suits. He's not used to this. He's in a suit and it doesn't feel right. Then he's in regular clothes and it still doesn't feel right. He's trying to find his identity. Eventually throughout the series he kind of claims some kind of identity through his clothes - but we've got a couple more seasons to go before we get to that point."
With that, the overall understanding has been that Danny would not suit up in the highly-anticipated team-up. But a new photo suggests that consensus is wrong. Finn Jones recently shared a picture of himself through Instagram, during a workout session:
While it's not uncommon for superhero actors to post their physical progress online, what stands out is his shirt. It's a Defenders t-shirt featureing Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage lined up. If you look closely, you'll notice Iron Fist is depicted in his signature costume:
The main thing here is the t-shirt is based on the show, so the looks of the characters come from their live-action portrayals. With this tease, and the uncertainty surrounding the topic, you might understandably be wondering...
Is Iron Fist Getting His Costume In 'The Defenders' Or Not?
The answer is now: it's highly likely. Prior to the release of Iron Fist Season 1, showrunner Scott Buck talked about the eventual struggle Danny will face when it comes to hiding his billionaire identity while publicly kicking villainous butt:
“He is someone who is rather well known as a billionaire, so he can’t necessarily go out in public and do the things he does without being recognized. It does become an issue for the character.”
The Defenders will encounter a world-threatening problem in the upcoming show. That would logically be the best time for Danny to start considering a way to hide his face. Something that catches my attention from Finn Jones' t-shirt is that his character seems to be shirtless. The hero sporting a mask while shirtless is pulled directly from the comic books, so the image could be teasing a more makeshift outfit as he enters costumed vigilante territory.

So yes, there's a lot of conflicting information when it comes to what Danny Rand will be wearing when trying to save New York from a cult of deadly ninja warriors led by Sigourney Weaver. But going by the evidence above, it looks like we'll be seeing the suit pop up.
With that said, if we're able to see Jones suit up, that's not to say it will be a big inclusion. The suit could be shown right at the end of the show, much like what happened in Daredevil Season 1, teasing more exciting times ahead.
I have to say, being an enormous fan of Iron Fist, I can't wait to see Finn Jones suited up. But to know whether that will happen, don't miss The Defenders when it gets released on August 18, 2017.
