The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get a whole lot bigger and a whole lot more exciting with the upcoming #Inhumans, a show with an incredibly large scope that includes having its first two episodes released theatrically. Despite that massive scale and all the work that needs to be put into it to make it a reality, the series is set to be released in just six months, meaning things needed to start rolling fairly quickly.
Well, they have. Last week, we got a slew of casting announcements for various iconic characters, such as Black Bolt, Medusa and Maximus the Mad. If you thought that was all we would get for a while, strap in, because thanks to the Twitter page Reel News Hawaii, new set pictures have surfaced giving us our first look at #AnsonMount as the legendary Black Bolt and a stand-in for Lockjaw. Take a look:
As you can see, Black Bolt is not wearing his signature (and incredibly) cool costume. Could it be that what he's wearing in the picture is his "normal" attire and his comic book suit is considered more of a battle armor? Or, in a more controversial scenario for comic book nerds, will this be his official, live action-adapted suit? His coat features a darkened-bolt pattern, which seems to indicate the latter is the likeliest option:
However, #Marvel has never backed away from adapting a comic book suit for the real world, so I'm optimistic that the iconic super-heroic garments are not far away.
If we take a closer look at the pictures, we can see a blue stand-in for a dog that can only be faithfully portrayed by modern CGI: Lockjaw.
Going by what little we're able to see, his aesthetic is very faithful to his comic book look.

But that's not all there's to these images. This glimpse at the show raises another interesting question: Considering Black Bolt is bringing Lockjaw out in the open, right in front of a Starbucks and several cars, the Inhumans are definitely set to make splash in the world.
So far, Marvel Studios has been reluctant to include its TV characters in their movie side, but individuals as powerful as the Inhumans appearing in a crowded city out of nowhere is sure to raise some prying eyebrows. From #AvengersInfinityWar's production video, we know Tony Stark is doing all he can to stop Thanos once he comes knocking.
So, could this be an indication the Inhuman Royal Family will be brought into the larger #MCU sooner than we expected? We'll have to wait to see that, but so far, it looks like the Inhumans have a very bright future in the MCU.
What do you think of Black Bolt's attire? Is this his official live-action costume or is there a more comic-book accurate one coming our way? Let me know what you think in the comments!
