With The Hunger Games earning over $680 million worldwide, launching into the mainstream and cementing a new brand of teenage movie entertainment, Lionsgate wants those numbers to keep going up. Which is why they're starting to get the word out on the sequel.
Entertainment Weekly has FINALLY dropped the first look at Katniss and Finnick in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. is the new addition to the cast and in case you didn't read the book, Finnick is a popular former victor of the Hunger Games who crosses paths with Katniss and Peeta during a particularly crucial moment. So tell us, devotees...does Claflin look the part?
Apparently, Claflin told the magazine that he was petrified to film the infamous scene in which Finnick interacts with Katniss while donning nothing but strategically placed netting, explaining that it was the "scariest moment of my life. I'm on Twitter and so many people have been like 'Don't mess this up, or we will kill you.'" Considering the rising star is still alive, it's safe to assume he nailed the role.
I think The Hunger Games was, when all is said and done, one of my favorite movies of 2012. I'm not expecting a repeat with Catching Fire, really, because isn't as exciting a director as . On the other hand, the script was co-written by , the book was good, and the casting is great.
