Considering Marvel's success with Ant-Man in 2015, it was no surprise the studio would want to continue Scott Lang's journey. And in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp we'll get to witness Hope Van Dyne suit up and fight alongside Lang.
We've seen an image of the Wasp suit, but otherwise not much has been shared about next summer's sequel. But that changed when Marvel Studios took center stage for their panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
#AntManAndTheWasp was among several films Marvel put in the spotlight during their much-anticipated #SDCC2017 panel. The most exciting news came via cast announcements and details regarding new characters, including Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, a.k.a. Goliath.
That's not all, however, as the final day of the convention featured the unveiling of the film's first poster. The concept image features the first look at Giant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Hope (Evangeline Lilly) in action together.
The poster features Lang in his Giant-Man form as he punches a helicopter out of the sky while the Wasp takes out a soldier on the ground. The two are also included in character headshots along with Hank Pym, Luis, and Scott’s daughter Cassie. Fans will be happy to see Luis included on the poster as Michael Peña became a fan-favorite for his scene-stealing abilities in the first movie. It is a bit of a surprise seeing Cassie on the poster, but that suggests she will play a more prominent role – perhaps a superhero in the making?
Ant-Man and the Wasp will give fans the their first look at Hope portraying the Wasp, since she will not make an appearance Avengers: Infinity War in May 2018. But fear not, we only have to wait a two more months for her superhero arc as Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for release July 6, 2018!
