(Note: The following contains spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)

There’s no denying that Rogue One is fantastic and now that we've seen the movie and all of its glorious spectacles, it’s time to have a discussion. No movie is perfect and while is close, there’s still certain aspects that hinders its success.

Many fans, myself included, felt a nostalgic and mesmerizing sensation after watching Rogue One, but if some key aspects were to be changed then Rogue One could easily be the best movie in the franchise.

1. The Ending: At Least One Rebel Should've Survived Scarif

While this aspect is one of the most celebrated of the movie, as it perfectly visualizes the catastrophes of war, at least one of the main heroes should’ve survived. Why make us love and connect with a character, only to have them killed off at the end?

These characters don’t appear in the original trilogy, but that alone shouldn’t place these newly beloved heroes on the chopping block. Especially a character like Chirrut Îmwe () or the protagonist of the story, Jyn Erso ().

If one of those characters had survived we could have then seen them in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode 8 and 9.

2. Introduce More Star Wars Canon Characters

The induction of Saw Guerrera was a win for many fans of the television show as it firmly connected the movies with the show (, take some notes). While Guerrera was a great addition to the movie, at least one more character from the show should’ve made an appearance.

Hera Syndulla was briefly mentioned in Rogue One, but I’m not the only one who desperately wants to see Ahsoka Tano make her big screen debut.

3. Saw Guerrera's Senseless Death

Speaking of Saw Guerrera, why did he suddenly lose the will to fight when Jedha was hit by the Death Star?

Since Ponda Baba and Cornelius Evazan clearly survived the destruction, the same should’ve applied to Guerrera. He could have aided the rebels during the battle at Scarif, adding more sweet action to the movie.

4. Darth Vader's Suit Needs An Update

had one of the best scenes in Star Wars history, but his suit and helmet don’t share the same praise.

His design in Rogue One differed heavily from its last appearance in Episode III and his helmet on certain angles looked more like a Halloween mask than an actual helmet.

Yes, his scenes were absolutely fantastic, but his design could’ve been better.

5. Character Development

Characters like Riz Ahmed’s Imperial pilot Bodhi were quickly introduced and just as quickly killed. It would’ve been great if his background was explored to further understand the character. The same can be applied to every other character that is not Jyn Erso.

While it's understandable that not every character’s story can be fit into a 2-hour film, it hurts the movie overall when those characters are central to the story and then are instantaneously killed.

6. Where Are The Death Troopers?

We simply need more of these badass Imperial soldiers!

They were key aspects in the beginning of the movie during the Erso's home scene, but their appearance was limited throughout the film.

7. More Time For Michael Giacchino To Compose

The music for Rogue One, as for all Star Wars movies, was phenomenal!

It’s incredible how Michael Giacchino was able to create such beautiful scores in such little time. He only had four weeks to score the movie, so imagine if he had had four months?

Rogue One

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is one of 2016's best movies and I personally loved it. While I enjoyed it immensely, the movie wasn’t perfect and there were small aspects that could’ve been improved to make it even better. (Check out the above video to watch several scenes that were in the trailers, but didn't make it into the film.)

What do you think? Would you change anything in Rogue One?

Let me know in the comments.
