This article contains major spoilers from The Flash Season 3.
Now that the mystery has finally been solved and Savitar's identity has been uncovered, Team Flash will quickly turn their attention to stopping the monstrous speedster. The shocking reveal will force the team to come up with a strategy that will allow the present-day's Barry Allen to outsmart his future self.
The upcoming episode, titled "Cause and Effect," will see Team Flash work with Tracy Brand as they try to figure out how to stop Savitar. It will also see Cisco attempt to wipe Barry's memories, hoping that his amnesia will have the same effect on the future Flash. But that's not all we'll see.
To get us even more excited for the episode's arrival, The CW has released brand new photos for the episode, which reveal some interesting plot points.
Killer Frost Has A Change Of Heart
Since she completed her transformation, Killer Frost has repeatedly enforced that Caitlin Snow is no longer in control of her own body. This means that she feels nothing for her former teammates and has no issue aligning herself with Savitar in the process. And we saw her in her full icy glory this week as she did the futuristic speedster's bidding.
However, in "Cause and Effect," she returns to her old base in the cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs, catching Team Flash off-guard.
While you might assume that she has come to ambush them again, the photos suggest otherwise. Frost doesn't possess her normal evil demeanor or threatening strut. In fact, she is even seen surrendering to them.
Thus, we have to wonder: has Caitlin come home?
Moreover, the episode's synopsis also suggests that she means Team Flash no harm:
Barry takes drastic measures to stop Savitar. Meanwhile, H.R. continues to push Tracy Brand (guest star Anne Dudek) to design the trap for Savitar and Killer Frost returns with an interesting proposal.
Considering the fact that she is the chief lieutenant of Savitar, it's unusual that Killer Frost would turn up like this just to relay a message — especially when he revealed himself last week. Thus, it's possible that she is proposing an alliance in which she could help them stop Savitar.
After all, one of the photos even show her standing with the team as they monitor something on their computers. There's definitely no way they would turn their back on her if they didn't trust her.
From both the photos and synopsis, it seems that the ice queen really has come to Team Flash for help. But the question is: has Killer Frost channeled her inner Caitlin, or is this merely an elaborate rouse she concocted with Savitar in order to get her hands on Tracy Brand?
Tracy Brand Develops The Trap For Savitar
We were first introduced to Tracy Brand in the previous episode, and she is quickly becoming one of the show's quirkiest characters. After H.R. convinced her of her destiny as a genius, she was able to figure out how to theoretically trap Savitar.
And judging by the recent photos, both Tracy and H.R. are ready to unveil their plans to Team Flash in "Cause and Effect" as they address The Flash, Kid Flash, Iris, Cisco, Joe and Julian.
It will be interesting to see if Killer Frost's presence in S.T.A.R. Labs will have anything to do with Tracy's plan. Perhaps she intends on getting the information and warning Savitar about their method of stopping him, or maybe she truly has returned to her goodhearted roots.
No matter what happens, "Cause and Effect" will certainly be a major episode for The Flash as Barry tries to deal with the fallout of the discovery that he may indeed be destined to become the "God of Speed" in the future.
