Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow have introduced us to dozens of beloved DC characters — and CW Seed has given us even more. CW Seed's animated shows present an exciting opportunity to explore the rich vein of DC characters in a more in-depth way, and now, they plan to tackle adventures from parallel worlds in the multiverse.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2017, The CW unveiled the first look at the newest animated Arrowverse show, Freedom Fighters: The Ray, which will explore the darker side of the multiverse. Just like other CW Seed shows, Vixen and Constantine, will be canon in the Arrowverse; however, the story will take place on Earth-X, a planet where the Nazis won WWII.

First Look At The CW Seed's Freedom Fighters: The Ray

Official synopsis for Freedom Fighters: The Ray is as follows:

Raymond “Ray” Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a “genetic light bomb.” The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice — he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists.

The clip from Freedom Fighters: The Ray introduces us to the Freedom Fighters team, led by The Ray – also known as Raymond Terrill, and comprised of The Human Bomb, Phantom Lady, Black Condor, and Red Tornado. The clip is filled with action, but it gives us very little information about the story. Sure, we are introduced to our heroes and villains, but apart from the text at the beginning, we can only surmise bits of the story based on the official synopsis.

We know that Ray Terrill is imbued with light powers against the evil Nazi regime. The idea of exploring The CW multiverse has us in full-on nerd mode, but the most exciting introduction is the group of Nazi villains known as The Reichsmen – who happen to be evil versions of our favorite Arrowverse heroes!

The Reichsmen are based off the DC Comics Earth-10 team, the New Reichsmen, who, much like the Crime Syndicate, are an evil iteration of the Justice League. The clip reveals three members of The Reichsman, who are evil versions of The Flash, Green Arrow, and .

Since Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash are the main shows in the Arrowverse, it makes sense that they would head this version of The Reichsmen. , Supergirl, and Green Arrow (who probably have different names on the show) are dressed in red and black from head-to-toe, and are all sporting swastikas and SS symbols on their costumes.

It hasn't been confirmed if Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell, and Melissa Benoist will voice their evil counterparts, but given that Gustin and Amell appeared in Vixen, it's a fair bet that they could. This new chapter in the Arrowmultiverse is exciting, and we can't wait to see how the Freedom Fighters plan to take down The Reichsmen. We will have to wait until the show premieres in 2018 to learn more about the show, but so far, it looks like it will be an amazing addition to the .
