Never doubt the power of laughter. Ron Weasley is known to fans as Harry’s best male friend. Later in life, he marries his and Harry's female best friend Hermione Granger. With Hermione, Ron has two children, Rose Granger-Weasley and Hugo Granger-Weasley. However, there is more to the character than just these factors. Ordinarily, he becomes the victim of people’s jokes (lookin’ at you Fred and George)! Though, it is safe to say that Ron has some fun moments that doesn’t involve him getting spelled.
Here are five times Ron Weasley made us laugh.
1. Don’t Panic! It’s Just Devil’s Snare
Who can forget the moment in the first adventure when the trio get caught in Devil’s Snare? I can’t. Bravely, Hermione remains calm, before telling her friends that they need to relax. If they don’t, the plant will only kill them faster. She sets the example by showing the boys what to do. The Devil's Snare releases her, making her disappear to the safety of the ground below.
Harry quickly follows suit. However, Ron panics. Hermione, with minimal help from Harry, is forced to intervene. She pulls out her wand, using the Lumos spell to free Ron.
Once Hermione has him free, Ron doesn’t show gratefulness towards her. The only remark he has, is this:
“Lucky we didn’t panic.”
Nice one, Ron. Nice one.
2. Aragog Goes On The Kill
Accordingly, thanks to his brothers Fred and George Weasley, Ron is terrified of spiders.
During his second year adventure with Harry, he encounters Aragog, a massive spider living in the Forbidden Forest. From the time he was a baby, Aragog was Hagrid’s pet when he was a Hogwarts student fifty years earlier.
When Myrtle Warren (Moaning Myrtle) gets killed by something unknown, Hagrid ended up getting expelled. The Hogwarts staff had reason to believe the beast to be Aragog. This, however, was never proven. The staff believed the word of young Tom Riddle, the future Lord Voldemort.
However, Aragog manages to escape into the forest and grew large. Apparently, over the years, he bore hundreds of sons and daughters.
Seeing Ron and Harry as a threat, Aragog sics his family on them. The friends run for their lives.
After escaping the forest with the help of the flying car, Ron exclaims:
This is Ron’s way of saying that Hagrid has a terrible choice in pets.
3. Tap Dancing Spiders In His Dreams
In a notable scene from the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Ron awakens in a cold sweat. Harry, who is sitting up in the bed, going over the Marauder’s Map looks over at him questioningly. Ron, in a shaky, panicky voice tells him that spiders want him to tap dance. Harry, somewhat amused, tells him to tell the spiders no. Without much effort, Ron goes back to sleep, snoring like nothing had occurred.
4. Getting Screamed At By His Mother Via A Howler
One of the best things about the Weasley clan is that they are always there for each other. Molly Weasley, the mother of Ron, has a strong stance on her children misbehaving.
When Harry and Ron are forced to use Arthur’s flying car to get to Hogwarts, they are almost expelled. McGonagall contacts Mrs. Weasley about Ron and in response Molly shouts at her son in a letter in the form of a Howler. The letter yells at Ron in front of everyone in the Great Hall. Gently, it congratulates Ginny on getting into Gryffindor. It then rips itself up.
5. Asking Fleur To The Yule Ball
There is nothing worse than embarrassing yourself in front of a person you have a crush on. It is just as terrifying when the words just slip off the tongue when you don’t want them to.
This happened to Ron during the events of Goblet of Fire. It wasn't much of a secret that almost every male had the hots for Beaubaxtons TriWizard Tournment competitor, Fleur Delacour. Without a doubt, she is beautiful, thanks to her Veela heritage.
Similarly, Ron develops a crush on her. When she walked past him, he shouted at her, asking to attend the Yule Ball with him. She, of course, declined or ignored him.
After the incident in the film, Ron walks into the Gryffindor common room. Flanked by a number of friends and sister Ginny, Ron sits down, looking almost terrified. Hermione and Harry rush over to him, asking what happened. Dazed, Ron in a rather dreamy fashion, saying that the words just fell from his mouth. Apparently, Ginny witnessed what happened between her brother and Fleur. She says that Ron screamed at Fleur. She goes on to say it was frightening.
The traumatized look on his face says it all. It is enough to send anyone into hysterical laughter.
Okay, some of these might be funny for other characters, though not for Ron. A beloved character with a heart of gold, Ron is the funniest one of the golden trio.
