Instead of just revealing the Season 7 premiere date — which is July 16, 2017 — fans had to comment "FIRE" on Facebook Live for more than an hour until a block of ice melted, unveiling the date. Yes, the premium cable service literally asked their fans to watch a block of ice melt on #Facebook for over an hour. To the uninitiated it sounds like a pretty stupid idea, but it was actually a genius way of rallying the fans' attention; it brought in nearly two million viewers. Yes, that many people tuned in to watch a block of ice melt.
There were a few technical hiccups, and the stream unfortunately cut out on several occasions, but that didn't stop the fans from pledging their allegiance to the Night's Watch.
