Last night on the The Conan O'Brien Show, Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin buoyantly suffered through the HBO television series' viewer reactions to last Sunday's episode. Host Conan O'Brien made Martin watch fan reactions to the episode, of clips which were set up by people who had read the books 13 years ago and knew what was coming. Martin commented that "I saw one of them saying in comment, 'Now you know why your nerdy friends were really depressed 13 years ago!'"

As you can see, absolutely no apologies went down from that sadist, and Martin even revealed that "I always like unexpected things and I always like the suspense to be real. I want my readers and my viewers to be afraid." Please, Martin. No more.
The climax to the "Red Wedding" episode was the show's most shocking yet - quite the achievement given the fate of 's character in Season One.
