Ever wondered how Godzilla grew to such epic proportions and developed his penchant for trampling major metropolitan areas? Well, know you can find out in a new Godzilla prequel comic!

Set decades before the movie and creatively titled Godzilla: Awakening, the comic-book will explore the story of how Godzilla developed such mighty toes. It was co-written by Greg Borenstein and Max Morenstein (the screen-writer for the movie) and it set to hit shelves on May 7th. This means you'll be able to pick it up just in time for the movies premiere on May 16th. Director recently made the announcement for Legendary Films in the a new video. Check it out below:

Wow. I had no idea Gareth Edwards is British, which let's face it, is probably the most exciting piece of information you got from the video.

In any case, I am actually quietly optimistic for the Godzilla reboot. Edwards seems to be delivering a less pulpy iteration of the beast than the 1998 version, and the inclusion of in the cast is sure to make a difference.

What do you think? Will Godzilla trample the box office when it hits in May? Let us know below.
