You might be forgiven for thinking is probably a pretty smug guy, I mean, he is George Clooney after all. However, when questioned about the recent Batman casting, he showed he can be as self-depreciating as the rest of us.

A few celebrities have now come out of the woodwork to comment on the apparently controversial casting of Affleck as The Dark Knight, but I think Clooney's comment definitely ranks as the best. He told Empire Magazine:

I am the least qualified person to comment on anyone playing the role of Batman since I so terribly destroyed the part.

Oh, come on Clooney, it wasn't that bad! Well, maybe a little bit...

He also went on to add:

I tend to look at it like this – let's just see what the movie is before everyone starts beating him up. He is a smart man, he knows what he is doing.

I think I can agree with this. Sure, the casting was a surprise, but now the furor has died down (and the fanboys have tired themselves out with constant keyboard smashing) it might actually be time to more objectively reconsider what Affleck can bring to the table.

What do you think? Do you agree, or are you still extremely annoyed about the casting? Let us know in the comments section below.
