is looking to spread his wings and take flight for Universal's sci-fi actioner The Raven, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie started out as a critically acclaimed short, directed by , to which Universal picked up the rights in 2010. Since then it's languished in development, with attached to star at one stage. That never came to pass and now it looks like Butler will come on board, with the cameras set to roll sometime this year.

Here's the synosis for De Montreuil's short movie:

The short follows Chris Black who possesses a power that could lead to the destruction of the current regime, and they will stop at nothing to destroy him.

Gerard Butler running around in a future Los Angeles while being shot at by the police? Sounds like my sort of movie.

With production on The Raven due to kick off soon, I recommend you [[follow]] the movie to get all the latest updates as and when they land.
