Oh, King Leonidas - uh, I mean , what in the hell happened to you? Oh, right. Rehab.
I legitimately can't tell if Butler is truly star material or if he's really a B-lister who somehow grabbed his 15 minutes of fame. His career has been an example of extremes: For every 300, there is a Playing For Keeps. I am the sort that will almost always root for fallen celebrities to get back up again, which is why I'm hoping his current release Olympus Has Fallen will get him back on the horse and his career in an upward trajectory.
But what a lot of people don't realize is that his breakthrough role was in Dracula 2000 as, you know, Dracula. And as it turns out, we've unearthed the video of his audition for the role. All I can say is that it's... it's special. It's really special. Sit back and relax as we transport you back to the kinder, gentler time of somewhere around 1999 when a casting agent looked at this and went, "Yeah, we're good here."
So that all happened.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did see this in theaters. Imagine my surprise when, four years later, I was sitting in a movie theater when I realized that one dude who played Dracula was now in front of my eyeballs, belting out "The Music of the Night" as the Phantom of the Opera.
