Scrubs lead and internet star Zach Braff recently posted the trailer for his latest directorial job, #GoingInStyle, and it looks hilarious. The film features three friends who decide to rob a bank after their pension payments are frozen. This marks Zach Braff's first film since 2014's Wish I Was Here, which was a nice, light-hearted comedy that showed Zach Braff's got real directing potential.
Going in Style will be released in theaters on April 7, 2017 and to prepare you for Zach Braff's next #comedy, I'll take you through some things you need to know about one of 2017's funniest looking movies!
1. It Has A Crazy Good Cast!
Going in Style has one of the best casts for any comedy I've ever seen before. All three of its leads are Oscar winners: Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin. As if that weren't enough Academy Award goodness, there's also two Oscar nominees in the cast too: Matt Dillon and Ann-Margret.
2. This Film Is A Remake
Going In Style is actually a remake of a 1979 comedy of the same name. This movie had an identical plot and the cast included George Burns (Oh, God!), Art Carney (Harry and Tonto) and Lee Strasberg (The Godfather: Part II). This movie is reviewed very positively, standing at 7.2 on IMDb and a fantastic Rotten Tomatoes score of 89%. Hopefully this kind of quality can be emulated in Zach Braff's version!

3. The Cast Are Used To Working Together
This cast includes lots of actors who are pretty used to working together; most notably, Going in Style marks the sixth time Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine have worked together (having previously collaborated on Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Now You See Me and Now You See Me 2). It's also the second time Michael Caine and Alan Arkin have worked together, the first being in Woman Times Seven (1967). Director Zach Braff has also called upon his favorite young actress, Joey King, whom he worked with on Wish I Was Here and Oz the Great and Powerful. Surprisingly, it's the first time Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin have worked together, which is some cool history being made.
4. Zach Braff Wasn't Always Attached To Direct
Zach Braff has posted many pictures of this movie on social media, showcasing just how proud he is to have made this film, and to have worked with such talented actors. But it turns out that Zach Braff wasn't the first director considered, as Don Scardino (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) was first attached to direct the film, but it fell through because a deal couldn't be reached.
5. Apparently Morgan Freeman Was A Jokester On Set
There's no denying that #MorganFreeman is one of the world's most beloved actors, and at the age of 79 it's great to know he's still got a brilliant sense of humor. Speaking to Access Hollywood, Zach Braff said, "Morgan loves to play around on set" saying when he would give Morgan Freeman instructions for a scene, Morgan would simply respond with "my character wouldn't do that." This story is hilarious and I hope this sort of comedy is translated on the big screen for Going in Style.
With a stellar cast, a great director and a promising trailer, it's hard not to get super excited for this project next year. I'll definitely be going to the theater to see this one and I hope we might get a cameo from Zach Braff himself, seeing as he's appeared in his last two directed movies.
