Just before we wrapped up 2016, our hearts collectively broke when Star Wars legend, #CarrieFisher, and her mother, Hollywood icon #DebbieReynolds, passed away a day apart. Along with movie lovers all over the world mourning together, Hollywood also mourned the loss of their fellow actresses and friends.
Tonight at the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards, the show paid heartwarming tribute to Carrie and Debbie. The brief tribute video not only referenced the incredible talents these women possessed and shared with the world, but it also showed the wonderful bond between mother and daughter.
In addition to showing clips from the film and television careers of both women, our eyes got even more watery as home video clips were integrated into the mix. To top it off, the footage was accompanied with their duet, "You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It)" that the pair performed on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011.
The tribute was a tearjerker for Globes viewers, and several took to Twitter to share their thoughts, especially as Meryl Streep also referenced Carrie Fisher's words in her own speech:
