Gotham has been shocking viewers with unpredictable twists and turns ever since returning for its Season 4 a couple of weeks ago. The Fox series has already had quite a few shocking moments this season, from Bruce embracing his inner hero to The Riddler losing his genius mind, and how could we forget the Scarecrow's disturbing (albeit brief) reign of terror?
Judging from the preview of #Gotham Season 4 Episode 5, it looks like the action isn't slowing down anytime soon. Thanks to a scary new episode teaser, it looks like a new villain is set to appear on Gotham and yes, that should leave you quaking in your boots. That's because #DC's Solomon Grundy will finally make his first appearance on the #Batman prequel series and, if we're being honest, he's much more terrifying than we initially thought. Check it out the preview below.
Even though this will be Grundy's first appearance on the show, it looks like it's actually Butch Gilzean who is set to become Solomon Grundy. The last time we saw Butch was in the Season 3 finale when Barbara Kean shot him dead, only it turns out her aim might have been a little rusty because Butch managed to survive being shot. While in a hospital bed, it was revealed by the nurses that Butch's name was actually Cyrus Gold, making it difficult not to take notice of the fact that this name also belongs to Solomon Grundy in the Batman comic books.
Will Solomon Grundy Track Down Barbara?
It's quite possible that Butch will be left with some long-term effects from the shooting. If we know this bodyguard, his first instinct will be to get revenge on those that have wronged him. This means that Barbara could be in immediate danger. However, with his animal instincts likely heightened, will Solomon Grundy murder Gotham's craziest queen? Probably not, considering she, you know, literally just came back from the dead. That said, we're betting that he won't be too pleased to learn that his beloved Tabitha is back in cahoots with Barbara, despite her having knowledge of the fact that Babs tried to kill him.
To be fair, Butch can hardly judge Tabitha. I mean, a criminal has got to eat, right? Plus, Tabitha is trying to make ends meet in a city that is run by Oswald Cobblepot, so she doesn't have much choice. But this isn't the regular Butch we're dealing with, and we don't know about you, but we don't think Solomon Grundy is the forgiving type.
Who knows what Solomon Grundy will get up to when he wakes up from his slumber, but we're betting it won't be for the faint of heart. Right now, it feels like the only person who could even take on Solomon Grundy, Bruce, isn't really a viable option. Even though Bruce has taken it upon himself to become a vigilante, but he's not quite up to the infamous Batman status we know and love just yet. With that in mind, we can't help but wonder if the young billionaire will encounter Solomon Grundy on one of his nightly jaunts. Let's hope not, because we know that his fight against Solomon Grundy wouldn't end well right now. Either way, Solomon Grundy is coming and Gotham will likely never be the same again.
Gotham airs Thursdays on Fox.
