Gracepoint, the remake of British crime drama Broadchurch, has cast two stellar actresses in the form of (Breaking Bad) and double Academy Award nominee . Comingsoon reports that Gunn will play detective Ellie Miller, "a happily married wife and mother who is looking forward to a promised promotion." There's a double twist in the tale though, as first she's overlooked for the promotion in favor of outsider Detective Emmett Carver (), and then the town is rocked by a shocking tragedy.
Weaver, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, will play a reclusive and mysterious woman who lives in the RV park.
Normally I'm not a fan of remakes, especially when the original was a brilliantly taut and twisting drama, but recruiting actresses of the caliber of Gunn and Weaver, plus Tennant reprising his starring role, suggests Gracepoint is worth checking out.
Will you be checking you Gracelpoint or do you think it's an unnecessary remake?
