With Justice League mere days away from its release date, several people are claiming they attended advance screenings, and now a leak from Reddit confirms a major theory: Green Lantern does indeed appear in the film. Two reports — one verified by the DCEU Leaks page admin, and one unverified — claim a Green Lantern appears on tape as part of a scene set in a history lesson. But according to the Redditors, he doesn't make it to the end of the film.

The Lantern In The League

A leaker by the name of ecabarus claims that he saw the movie and revealed several details about the upcoming film, including information about a Green Lantern scene. According to ecabarus, there is only one in the film who is shown to be killed in the past. When fellow Redditors asked who the Lantern was and if there was any dialogue in the film, ecabrus replied:

It was a flashback scene where a Lantern is shown, not Hal or John Stewart

[There is] an up close shot of the ring as well. The Lantern is fighting a huge war with the Atlanteans, Amazons, and mankind against Steppenwolf

Redditor doctormanhatten38772 corroborated ecabrus' claims, revealing that he also remembers the Green Lantern history lesson scene.

"All you see is during the history lesson. We see one unnamed green lantern and he is wearing i believe a more classic green lantern suit closer to the comics than the 2011 movie, but I could be wrong because it was moving so fast. We see him make I think two different constructs which looked really good. And we see him die and the ring flies off to find another corps member. That’s about it for green lantern though."

Both versions state that the Green Lantern in question is an unknown character who dies, and his ring is then seemingly sent to another Lantern (who doesn't appear onscreen) — but aside from that the Lantern doesn't appear in the film at all. It was previously stated by those who've claimed to have seen the movie that the Lantern in the film isn't be Hal Jordan, but the mystery character's death on Earth establishes two things: Firstly, that humans are aware of the Green Lantern Corps, and that Earth is now in need of a new Lantern to protect it.

The latter may well be the reason Hal Jordan finds himself in possession of the ring, come 2020. Since the upcoming movie is set to be a buddy-cop comedy type film, it's possible that the film will revolve around Hal (or John Stewart, or whoever becomes the new Lantern) struggling to fill in the shoes of their deceased predecessor, though that's just speculation on my part.

If these leaks turn out to be accurate, it will corroborate many rumors about a Lantern being involved in the film, and explain why no actor was cast as Green Lantern in Justice League. The scene in question is said to be around 2-3 minutes long, and it appears that director Zack Snyder was trying to recreate the magic of the much loved Aquaman, Cyborg, and the Flash cameo scenes in Batman v. Superman with Green Lantern's appearance in Justice League. This cameo would definitively establish Green Lantern Corps' involvement in the , paving way for the 2020 feature film. Let's just hope that the scene, and the film itself, is as amazing as these leaks make it out to be!
