TMZ has reported the 69-year-old actor suffered a massive heart attack while playing hockey — the sport he famously loved — with his son, Carter. According to reports, he started having chest pains while on the ice, then grew nauseated just before vomiting. He was rushed to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center around noon, but pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The Canadian actor was a multiple threat in Hollywood — an actor, game and talkshow host, author, and songwriter — but he is most fondly remembered from his role as dad Jason Seaver on Growing Pains.
He recently had a stint on Netflix's Fuller House and a cameo in the pilot episode of This Is Us. Younger fans will also know him as the father of singer Robin Thicke.
Along with Robin, he is survived by his two other sons, Carter and Brennan, and his wife, Tanya.
R.I.P. Mr. Seaver. You were a second dad to an entire generation.
