I'm here to officially call time on the progression of the human race because Deadline is reporting that Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever is getting her own movie. The cat in question is the sour-faced puss (real name Tardar Sauce) that has become an Internet sensation because it has a miserable-looking face. Broken Road’s Todd Garner and Sean Robins, plus Grumpy Cat’s reps (the cat's got reps for [email protected]&k sake!) are working together to produce a Garfield-like feature film, with the depressed-looking pet taking center stage. Here's what Garner had to say about the project:

This started off as a picture of a cat, but rare is an image that evokes that much comedy. You read all of the memes and the comments, and one is funnier than the next. We think we can build a big family comedy around this character.

Surprisingly and are attached to star alongside the cantankerous critter, with the movie being a priority for New Line, who hope it will be a big hit with the family crowd.

The crotchety cat was voted Meme of the year at the 2013 Webby Awards, was named the most influential cat of 2012 by MSNBC (is that even a thing?) and has appeared on TV shows Today, Good Morning America, CBS Evening News, Anderson Cooper Live, VH1 Morning Buzz and The Soup.

I think a little piece of me has died inside.

In case you missed Grumpy Cat first time around, here's the video that made her famous:

What's next? A Harlem Shake movie? A Planking indie flick? A Dramatic Chipmunk horror film?

Creativity and self respect, please close the door on your way out.
