After nearly a year of excited anticipation from fans and much speculation about what the future held for AMC's first spinoff series, Better Call Saul, fans finally got another little taste of what's to come. Before delving into it, check out the nostalgic — and joy-inducing — teaser for the upcoming season:

Now that we've had a "taste of family," let's delve into what the teaser tells us for Jimmy McGill's future in his solo series.

Gus Is Back!

Highly regarded as one of the greatest characters in Breaking Bad due to his intelligence and wide-reaching menace, Gustavo Fring was one of the toughest and most evil antagonists Walt and Jesse had to deal with in the original series, and they did so all because of one man: Saul Goodman (Jimmy McGill).

That's right, the star of the spinoff series was the one who put Walt and Jesse in contact with Fring, having dealt with him in the past. With the new teaser showing Fring back at Los Pollos Hermanos, it looks like we might just see how their paths first crossed — but it may not start with a direct meeting between Jimmy and Gus, but rather start with side character Mike Ehrmantraut.

When we last saw Mike, he was attempting to assassinate another Bad villain, Hector Salamanca, being unsuccessful in his attempt thanks to a body in the way of his sniper, as well as an anonymous onlooker setting off Mike's car alarm in the distance with an ominous note saying "Don't." In leaving the author of the note a mystery, creator/co-writer Vince Gilligan did a phenomenal job of leaving the window wide open for potential new villains, or (and most likely) the return of Gustavo Fring.

In addition to the new teaser, a fan cracked the code the creators were trying hard to both hide and not reveal themselves: an tease promising Gus' return in the Season 2 episode titles. Executive producer Peter Gould spoke in an interview with Vanity Fair that he, Gilligan and two other minds in the office — Jenn Carroll and Ariel Levine — worked hard to come up with a way to get the clue to the fans:

"We thought we’d be revealing it maybe sometime over the summer. I guess we really underestimated the genius and hard work of our fans."

Though the teaser didn't offer much else in the way of story hints for what Jimmy himself with have to deal with in the upcoming season, it was addressed in the first promo that Jimmy would be dealing with the legal ramifications of having committed fraud.

With the release date still up in the air, there is still plenty of time for AMC to offer us more clues as to what fans can expect from Season 3, as well as give fans a chance to binge-watch the second season again to stay caught up.
