Despite being one of the main characters in Iron Man, the film that kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) has been absent in the franchise's recent entires. However, following her surprise cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans have been wondering whether Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) significant other would make more appearances in Marvel's upcoming adventures.

Well, thanks to some on-set photos from the fourth Avengers movie, it seems that Pepper's future in the MCU has now been confirmed.

A Marvelous Reunion For The Iron Man Cast

Jon Farveau, the director of the first movie (and the man behind Tony Stark's loyal aide, Happy Hogan) shared a group photo of his original Iron Man co-stars on Twitter. The shot shows Downey, Paltrow and Farveau himself on the set of the currently untitled , which is set to be the sequel of next year's Avengers: Infinity War.

This, however, does not confirm that the three will indeed survive the events of Infinity War. Earlier, Yondu (Micheal Rooker) was spotted on the set of the highly-anticipated Avengers sequel, implying that the Ravager would fight alongside the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy against Thanos (Josh Brolin). But as seen in the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, audiences won't be seeing Yondu again any time soon.

The Iron Man reunion may or may not be a diversion tactic on Marvel's part, and only time will tell if Tony Stark and his original team will see what lies after facing off with the Mad Titan.

After saving the day in Iron Man 3 by beating up a fire-breathing Guy Pearce, Pepper disappeared from movies. Her absence was later explained in Captain America: Civil War, when Tony admitted that their relationship was on the rocks and that they needed some space, but Homecoming suggested that the two have reconciled and are even preparing for a possible marriage.

When asked why her character vanished from the MCU despite being integral to Tony Stark's story, Paltrow said that she "simply wasn't asked" to return. She then theorized that her contract with Marvel meant that she was still slated to return as Pepper, either in "Avengers or Captain America, one of those."

While it's currently unclear if Paltrow will reprise her role as Pepper Potts in Infinity War, her confirmed presence in the fourth Avengers movie could be the proof fans and observers have been looking for regarding her character's future in the MCU.
