Hollywood A-lister Halle Berry is to produce an epic mini-series for History called Hannibal. As opposed to another retelling of the serial killer with a taste for fava beans and a nice Chianti, Hannibal will trace the exploits of one of histories most influential generals.

Said Berry:

Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live, he may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride, and I’m thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History.

Hannibal (History channel mini-series) will chart the early part of the general's life, beginning in Carthage in 264 BC and will take us on a journey through the first Punic War and Hannibal's rivalry with Scipio Africanus.

Oscar-nominated writer (The Constant Gardner) is tapped to pen the script and while Berry is on board to produce, there's no word on whether she'll also star in the mini-series.

Who do you think should be cast as Hannibal? Let me know your suggestions in the comment section below.
