Hollywood A-lister Halle Berry is to produce an epic mini-series for History called Hannibal. As opposed to another retelling of the serial killer with a taste for fava beans and a nice Chianti, Hannibal will trace the exploits of one of histories most influential generals.

Said Berry:

Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live, he may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride, and Iā€™m thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History.

Hannibal (History channel mini-series) will chart the early part of the general's life, beginning in Carthage in 264 BC and will take us on a journey through the first Punic War and Hannibal's rivalry with Scipio Africanus.

Oscar-nominated writer (The Constant Gardner) is tapped to pen the script and while Berry is on board to produce, there's no word on whether she'll also star in the mini-series.

Who do you think should be cast as Hannibal? Let me know your suggestions in the comment section below.
