In the current age of home invasion and zombie horror flicks, it's nice to see something with a bit more of a retro vibe. There used to be a time when the words 'Adominable Snowman' would strike fear into the hearts of cinema-goers. Now, the name actually sounds quite adorable.
Well, that looks set to change. UK based horror studio, Hammer, are looking to return the Yeti into the annals of horrific creatures with their reboot of the original 1957 The Abominable Snowman.
Hammer, which also produced the original, look set to add a contemporary twist onto the proceedings. The story will see a team of climbers illegally scaling a formidable peak in the Himalayas to hunt for the Yeti. Unfortunately, their incursion onto the sacred mountain soon stirs the ancient creature.
Hammer, a longtime staple of the British horror industry, has experienced a bit of a resurgence recently with both 2010's Let Me In and 2012's The Woman In Black. It seems the studio is eager to reimagine its own source material for new audiences, and The Abominable Snowman certainly seems like a good place to start.
