Harry Styles is one of the world's biggest musical acts right now, but the singer is set to show off his other talents in the upcoming war film Dunkirk. The former One Direction star has a substantial role in the Christopher Nolan flick — and since his casting, many fans have wondered how the young heartthrob will fare in his first acting gig. Nolan has been full of praise for the singer, and initial reviews have suggested that Styles is good in Dunkirk, so we're excited to see the war drama when it hits theaters next week.

Hot off his chart-topping debut solo album, will embark on a world tour next year and, with a possible reunion on the cards, the singer-songwriter will be pretty busy. However, with Dunkirk set for box office success, will Styles further pursue a career in acting?

The singer didn't seem to keen on this prospect when quizzed about it at the film premiere in London this week. When asked if he plans on making any more movies, Styles responded with:

"I'm maybe one and done".

He went on to say:

"I'd do this one [referring to 'Dunkirk'] again. I really enjoyed this. I'd do this one again. I don't know".

Interviewer Edith Bowman then commented how Dunkirk is very much an ensemble piece and argued that there's much more Styles could do in the future if he wanted to do it. But he replied:

"I haven't really thought about it, to be honest. I mean I loved this. I really loved this. And I feel very lucky to have got to work with everyone that was on this so I hope people enjoy it and I enjoyed it, so yeah, I don't know. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe not."

Could We See Styles Pursue An Acting Career?

As celebrities go, Styles is one of the biggest on the planet and he's more popular than ever right now due to the recent success of his debut album. He shot to fame after auditioning (initially as a solo act) on The X Factor UK back in 2010. Eventually, he was put into a boyband with fellow competitors Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik to form One Direction.

Though One Direction didn't win the competition, they went on to become the biggest success story The X Factor had ever seen, releasing chart-topping hits like "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Live While We're Young," selling out arenas all around the world and winning the hearts of teenage girls everywhere. After the release of their fifth album back in 2015, the group announced their temporary hiatus. Before long, Styles was cast in Dunkirk and released a solo album that topped the global charts.

With all of that in mind, we have no idea how the singer-songwriter would be able to find the time to pursue a career in acting. However, not every film project has to be as ambitious as Dunkirk, so there's no reason why we won't see him pop up in a different genre of film at a later date. The "Sign of the Times" singer has said on multiple occasions that he is a fan of romantic comedies, so perhaps he'll pop up in a romcom in the future?

While Styles has all the charm and sophistication of Hollywood's elite, the singer-songwriter is very committed to his music right now. As much as we would love to see his handsome face in several more movies, we'd hate to be deprived of his spine-tingling vocals for too long. Either way, we can't wait to see what he does next.

Dunkirk hits cinemas July 21st.
