The strange world of Ant-Man is about to get a whole lot bigger (heh) thanks to . The sequel will see the character of Hope Pym picking up her mother's mantle as The Wasp and joining Scott Lang in whatever crazy new journey he has to go on.

Two classic Avengers teaming up in their own movie is obviously exciting enough for comic book fans... but what if I told you there's reason to be even more excited? According to a new rumor, Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, will be part of the film.

The site showbiz411 put out a report stating was off Mission: Impossible 6, citing the actor feeling that two movies in the franchise were enough. When detailing how his exit from the film would not be a problem, the bombshell was dropped:

"He’s doing two 'Avengers' movies back to back instead β€” 'Infinity War' and 'Ant-man and the Wasp' as Hawkeye."

Now, this obviously a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. However, the site has proven to be a reliable source in the past. For example, they broke the news that was coming back for Mission: Impossible 6.

Plus, the connective tissue between films in the MCU gets stronger every year. We have Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and Thor: Ragnarok as proof. Still, there's something very strange about the notion of Clint Barton popping up in Ant-Man and The Wasp. That got me thinking...

How Did Hawkeye Get In Ant-Man's Movie?

That's the big question here, isn't it? Well, at first I thought it could be because of Civil War: Clint Barton and Scott Lang had a connection in the film after doing a whole lot of butt-kicking together...

... and both ended up as fugitives at the end of the film. So Barton hanging out with his ant-sized friend after that wouldn't be a crazy scenario.

But then I remembered that comes two months before Ant-Man and The Wasp. And, as we already know, Hawkeye is in the latter. So it's not likely he'll remain a fugitive after doing his part in saving the planet.

Therefore, his appearance would most likely not be thanks to what happened in Civil War... But what about what goes on in Infinity War? Something I found curious about the movies in between Avengers 3 and 4 is the prospect of them being affected by the crossover.

Ant-Man and The Wasp hits theaters in July 2018 and in 2019. We know the latter will follow the story threads left by its predecessor, meaning Ant-Man's sequel falls right in between the massive storyline. So it's reasonable to assume that Barton's possible role could be due to whatever transpired in Infinity War.

I have to say, Clint Barton in Ant-Man and The Wasp would be incredibly exciting. Hawkeye and Ant-Man have a great sense of humor and as we saw in Civil War, great chemistry, so putting them together could make for a really fun time.

Ultimately, to get a better idea of how the pieces might fit for Ant-Man and The Wasp and know whether this rumor is true, we'll have to wait for Infinity War, which hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
