Star Wars Celebration is officially underway, and it is off to a great start. The Star Wars 40th Anniversary panel kicked things off, and brought back some of our favorite actors from the original trilogy and the prequels — and let's not forget the creator, George Lucas. The panel showcased why fans have such affection for Star Wars, and really set the tone for the convention.
#HaydenChristensen made his first Star Wars Celebration appearance in 15 years, and was welcomed by thunderous applause. Later, Mark Hamill came out and regaled the audience with stories of filming the originals. After #MarkHamill had his time to shine, Warwick Davis shocked the audience when he announced #HarrisonFord — at this point the roof almost blew off the building.
The panel wrapped up with a touching tribute to Carrie Fisher, and then a concert from the legendary John Williams. With that much awesomeness on one stage, it's hard to feel even more excitement; however, during press photos for the event, the Skywalker family reunited, for one of the most epic Star Wars pictures of all time.
Anakin & Luke Skywalker Together At Last
This is one of the few pictures of Hayden Christensen and Mark Hamill ever taken together. It makes sense that the two might not have been at the same events before, seeing as they weren’t in any of the same films — technically they are both in Return of the Jedi, but Hayden was digitally added in the mid 2000s.
As a Star Wars fan, the photo kind of sneaks up on you. You look at it and think, “Oh, it’s Christensen and Hamill together," but then it becomes clear that this picture is a bridge between the original trilogy and the prequels. It's two actors who played father and son in different eras, and whose characters were the epicenter of a franchise that has spanned 40 years.
