Hemlock Grove creators and have set their sights on oil-rush America for their next project as they look to adapt Philipp Meyer's novel The Son. With Meyer also on board to help pen the script, The Son is a multi-generational epic that charts the US's journey to world superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas oil empire.

A mix between Dallas, There Will be Blood and Buddenbrooks if you will.

The Son will run as a limited series under the ShineBox SMC banner, although there's no word yet on which network will pick it up.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this come to series. Meyer's novel was a gripping epic and while it will be no easy task adapting it for TV, I have every confidence in McGreevy and Shipman's vision.

Does The Son sound like your kind of show? Who would you like to see cast? Let me know in the comments below.
