In 2015, Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation surpassed everyone's expectations, and cleared any doubts about the 20-year-old franchise's potential to deliver an amazing and compelling story. Now, Tom Cruise and director Stephen McQuarrie are back at it again with #MissionImpossible6.
While we know very little about Ethan Hunt's next adventure other than the fact that it will explore the protagonist's backstory in a much more meaningful way, the film has been shaping up nicely over the last few months. Now, we have a our first major casting announcement. Variety is reporting that Superman himself, #HenryCavill has joined the cast.
While his character's name was not revealed, according to the report, he'll be playing...
"Some sort of right hand to the head of Cruise’s unit."
So for now, it looks like he'll be on the heroes' team...even if being in a position of authority might find him butting heads with the unconventional Hunt. However, if the #MissionImpossible franchise has taught us anything, is that no one can be trusted in the world of heart-pounding, super secret missions, so his true allegiance remains to be seen.
Interestingly enough, this won't be Cavill's first experience in the spy world, as he was previously in the running for James Bond and portrayed super spy Napoleon Solo in 2015's The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Cavill adds another star to the already impressive cast that includes, obviously, Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. #MI6 is being produced by Cruise and David Ellison.
The movie currently has no release date but from the looks of it, it's possible we'll see it sooner than expected.
