Sure, Negan swung the bat, but who really killed Glenn? He'll even admit it himself: The man who killed Glenn Rhee was #TheWalkingDead creator and overlord Robert Kirkman. This is a dude who very much ascribes to the Frank'N'Furter school of invention: I made you...and I can break you just as easily.

Kirkman confessed to EW that he'd doomed TV Glenn to die as soon as comic Glenn bit the bat:
"It’s just that there’s a lot of material that comes from Glenn’s death in the comics.. while we do try to change things up to keep things interesting for the audience, and for me, this is one that there’s so much that comes from Rick, there’s so much with Negan, because that character is someone that he killed, and definitely Maggie is someone that kind of gets put on the trajectory that affects a great number of stories and a great number of characters moving forward. So it was kind of essential that that part of the scene at least remained intact, unfortunately."
Ya hear that? Your immense suffering was essential. Maggie's anguish and Glenn's busted skull was essential. Oh, Kirkman, you cruel puppet master!
