Eight years ago, High School Musical came to a close and we bid farewell to Troy, Gabriella, Chad, Ryan and Sharpay. Thanks to our undying nostalgia, fans (including yours truly) have been clamoring for a new chapter in the franchise. Yes, our beloved main characters got a happy ending, but they still had a long road ahead of them, so we've been dying to see how their lives turned out.

Sadly, it doesn't look like that will ever happen. Disney is currently working on High School Musical 4, but the story will focus on a new group of Wildcats, which means that a reunion movie is very unlikely at this point. But, my fellow music lovers, don't let that get you down just yet, because fortunately for those of us who would have loved to see Troy and Gabriella's love story continue, a dedicated fan made our dreams come true.

Once A Wildcat...

One fan cut together clips from various movies and TV series starring , , , and and turned them into a solid trailer, which gave us an idea of what a HSM 4 reunion movie would be like:

Oh God... the feels. This little teaser took the internet by storm, being viewed by millions of people on both Facebook and YouTube. Alas, some fans' desire for a reunion left them open to being duped.

Some Fans Were Completely Fooled By This Teaser

The biggest story about this trailer wasn't the nostalgia factor. Nope, it was the fact that a surprising amount of people thought this was actually our first official look at , and they weren't shy in sharing their excitement through social media:

... I'm speechless. It's just surprising to see how quickly misguided information can spread around the internet. Fortunately, hopeful audiences eventually realized the teaser wasn't official, and they also took to social media to share their disappointment:

But 'High School Musical 4' Is Still Happening

If you were one of the people fooled by the teaser, fret not, because as mentioned, High School Musical 4 is moving forward. The film will be directed byJeffrey Hornaday (the man responsible for another hit franchise, Teen Beach Movie). Better yet, Peter Barsocchini, the writer of the previous three HSM movies, is writing the script alongside Dan Berendsen (Sabrina the Teenage Witch).

Details on the plot are scarce, but we do know the story will somewhat focus on the rivalry between the East High Wildcats and the West High Knights. Granted, it looks like none of the original cast members will be part of this new project, but hey, at least we'll get another chance to visit East High. There isn't a release date or timeframe for the movie right now, but Disney started casting in April of 2016, so production could be starting at any moment.

What did you think about the Once A Wildcat trailer? What did you think about people believing it to be real? Let me know in the comments!
