The Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones made a lot of shipping fantasies come true when Daenerys and Jon finally gave in to their mutual romantic feelings. Don't let that little event fool you, though, because their amorous journey will probably not be a stable one. Jon is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen –– brother of Daenerys –– which makes the two lovebirds aunt and nephew.

Sam Tarly and Bran Stark are aware of Jon's lineage, and they're on their way to inform him about it. While it will be great for the King in the North to finally learn about his true heritage, the discovery puts a big question mark over his relationship with Dany, because it poses the question of what will happen to their relationship. Will they just not care about their shared DNA and continue their romance? Or will they part ways, disgusted by the incest they were a part of?

Folks, stop scratching your heads, because we finally have some answers, courtesy of the cast.

Sorry Shippers, Dany And Jon Are Probably Not The Show's Endgame

During production of the Season 7 finale, sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the heart-pounding events that unfolded this past week. During the chat, the actress was asked about how she thought Dany's reaction would be upon realizing Jon was actually her dear-old nephew. Breaking the hearts of shippers around the world, Clarke revealed that Daenerys will probably be disgusted by this:

“Ewwwww! I think that’s how it’s going to go. I get the toothbrush—"

Daenerys may have come from a family largely based on incest, but she spent the majority of her life trying to escape that sickening dynamic. As she put it, "I walked back into it." With that in mind, it's safe to say that Jon and Dany will call things off when they learn about their blood ties. Clarke expanded on her comments in the below video from HBO:

There's still no word on how Jon will respond to the news of his lineage, but he and Dany are arguably the most clean-minded individuals out of Westeros' main power players, so I'd imagine he'd feel just as sickened as his aunt would. Now, putting the stomach-churning incest aside, Jon's revelation could mean an even bigger thing for their relationship.

Is There About To Be A Confrontation Between Them?

Being Rhaegar Targaryen's legitimate son makes the rightful heir to the ever-coveted Iron Throne. Unfortunately for him and his potential journey to power, Daenerys has been fighting to restore her family's name to its former glory for years. Given that conflict of interest, most of us have been wondering how Snow's real origin will affect their relationship. They'll probably not be lovers anymore, but will that put an end to their allegiance and peculiar friendship?

Thankfully, we won't have to wait for Season 8 to arrive to know, because we have an idea. Later on in her EW interview, Clarke also revealed that Dany wouldn't be happy –– like, at all –– to know that someone else has a bigger chance at attaining ultimate power than she does:

"I've worked so hard, I don’t want to share that throne. No. The throne's big enough for one dragon bum, and that’s mine. That's it!"

Well, that looks like trouble for Jon Snow. Granted, Clarke didn't outright say that Dany would wage war against him and the North, but the simple fact that she's aware of the danger he poses for her crown will probably encourage her to step away from him.

Of course, we also have to take into account the fact that Jon isn't even interested in the Iron Throne. Therefore, seeing how there aren't rival political interests involved, I don't see why their friendship couldn't continue. We'll get a bigger picture of what will happen between Jon and Dany when Season 8 comes around next year, but going by Clarke's comments, it's safe to say we're in for quite an explosive dynamic.

What do you think about Daenerys's possible reaction to Jon's lineage? Will that end their friendship? Let me know in the comments!
