The writers at How I Met Your Mother forgot this when they dressed three characters up in Yellowface.
No, really, they did.
Naturally, people were angry.
Like, REALLY angry.
The online movement #HowIMetYourRacism was born.
And they all had a point.
The Yellowface was vile, but the backlash was heartening, prompting a rethink for TV.
The How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas apologized, at least.
And really seemed to mean it.
