(WARNING: Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War follow)

A little over a week ago, Marvel Studios released a behind-the-scenes look at Avengers: Infinity War in the form a featurette. The featurette didn't provide us with much new content but it did include a glimpse of The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus.

'The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus' Hidden Within The 'Avengers: Infinity War' Featurette

The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus is a collection of Marvel comics released in 2014. The Omnibus is compiled with comics issues that lead up to the events of the Infinity Gauntlet arc.

The Infinity Gauntlet was glimpsed briefly in the featurette but there was no mention of the Omnibus in the video. As for how The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus may factor into is still unknown, but the collection of comics included in the omnibus could feasibly be a layout for the events of Avengers: Infinity War if we account for all the similarities shared between the comics in the Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus and the ongoing events of the MCU.

Here are three of the comics included in The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus that may or may not factor into the plot of Avengers: Infinity War.

'Silver Surfer #36'

In Silver Surfer #36, Silver Surfer journeys to Earth to speak with the Avengers. The Surfer's trip to Earth was to warn Captain America of what sought to do. Captain America describes his past experiences with Thanos to the Silver Surfer, including Thanos's attempt to collect the Infinity Stones.

Silver Surfer #36 may factor into Avengers: Infinity War but the events of Silver Surfer #36 take place after the Avengers have already fought Thanos twice. We should also note that the Silver Surfer can't show up in the at the moment due to proprietary rights belonging to 20th Century Fox. However, the Silver Surfer may be joining the MCU post-Infinity War.

Seeing as how there are several Silver Surfer comics included in The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus, Marvel's plans for the following Avengers movie could involve introducing the Silver Surfer to the MCU. Although, it's much more likely that an existing character of the MCU will be substituted in for the Silver Surfer.

The number of MCU characters that could believably fill the Silver Surfer's role are limited but the most plausible is Thor. Thor is the only member of the Avengers that is familiar with the Infinity Stones and can inform the Avengers of Thanos's plan to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet. Doctor Strange could also believably fill Surfer's role in Avengers: Infinity War but it's much more feasible for a cosmic character like Thor to be the one who warns the Avengers of Thanos.

'Silver Surfer #44'

Silver Surfer #44 was one of the issues where Thanos assembled all the Infinity Stones into the gauntlet. It was also the issue where Thanos took the souls of Drax and the Silver Surfer into Soulworld, the pocket universe inside of the Soul Stone.

The events of Silver Surfer #44 are the most likely to translate over to Avengers: Infinity War. However, if Silver Surfer #44 is more influential on Avengers: Infinity War beyond Thanos's completion of the Infinity Gauntlet, then we may also see Soulworld in the movie.

There's also this behind-the-scenes image of Avengers: Infinity War, which teases one of the stages in Avengers: Infinity War that could potentially be Soulworld.

The set pieces seen here appear to be of an alien planet, a planet unseen in the MCU. The set design doesn't match any of the alien planets we've seen thus far, so it's either one of Thanos's controlled planets like Sanctuary II, or the aforementioned Soulworld.

The next issue is reliant on Soulworld being a featured setting in Avengers: Infinity War for it to have any influence on the movie. In Silver Surfer #47, Drax and Silver Surfer search for Adam Warlock within Soulworld. During their search, Drax and Silver Surfer meet Gamora, Pip and Autolycus along the way. When they meet Adam Warlock, they tell him of their intention to destroy Soulworld so as to be released from the Soul Stone. Adam Warlock doesn't respond positively to news of invaders wanting to destroy his world and a fight ensues.

Warlock subdues both Drax and Gamora before he converses with Silver Surfer. Their conversation results in Adam Warlock returning Drax, Gamora and Silver Surfer's souls back to their bodies. At the same time, Adam Warlock offers his support to the Silver Surfer in the future. What's important to note in Silver Surfer #47 are how the events of Avengers: Infinity War might take place inside of Soulworld.

The last remaining Infinity Stone (the Soul Stone) hasn't been revealed in the MCU, but its contents could be why the Soul Stone has been kept secret. If the MCU's version of the Soul Stone is identical to its comic book counterpart, then Soulworld might be contained within the Soul Stone. With that in mind, the Soul Stone could have been intentionally kept secret to protect Soulworld from being discovered, as well as protecting the appearance of Adam Warlock. Regardless, Soulworld would definitely be interesting to see depicted on-screen and it may also open up the door for Adam Warlock to join the MCU.

How Much Of The Comics Will Influence 'Avengers: Infinity War'?

While nothing is confirmed at the moment, the collection of comics compiled into The Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus could be integral to the plot of Avengers: Infinity War. However, until more details are revealed by Marvel Studios, we won't know what components of the Omnibus will affect Avengers: Infinity War.
