While waiting for the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy, most fans were expecting to see Thanos or perhaps the Avengers. So when the scene turned out to be a quick (quack?) cameo from Howard the Duck, it felt like the ultimate troll.

After all, the 1986 movie about the character — executive produced by George Lucas — is considered one of the worst Marvel Comics adaptations ever made. It barely made back its budget, and currently has an abysmal 13 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch a clip below, if you must:

But now that Howard is officially in the MCU, are we bound to see him again? Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige won't give a definitive answer, but he sure isn't denying it either. During a press conference for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Feige was asked what the future may hold for Howard, to which Feige replied:

“You know, the fun thing about Howard is he shows up where you least expect him, so like who knows where he’s going to appear next?”

With the MCU steering towards more and more towards movies taking place in space — and with Howard currently exploring the universe — anything's possible. After all, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is opening on May 5, Thor: Ragnarok is set on an alien planet, and Avengers: Infinity War is about saving the entire galaxy from Thanos. Is it too much to ask for Howard to join the melee?

Hey, while it's unlikely, there is always the chance that Howard the Duck could get another shot at his own movie. There are currently three untitled movies on the schedule for the MCU's Phase 4. Not only that, but the original Howard the Duck has become such a cult classic — ironically, perhaps, but still — that Marvel and Disney might sense the time is right to pair him with the Hulk and let him "Ruffalo" some feathers?
