Hugh Jackman knows in order to look the part for his movies, he has to put the work in at the gym. When Jackman had to make the transformation from muscle bulging Wolverine to sinewy convict in Les Miserables within a matter of months, he knew he had to get the best possible advice in order to achieve this drastic change. This advice came from none other than the Rock a.k.a Dwayne Johnson.

In an interview with Access Hollywood back in 2013, when Jackman was promoting both movies, he talked through how he achieved his astounding weight change, and revealed that it was the Rock's advice that got him through it. Jackman then went on to impart Dwayne's words of wisdom:

“First of all, he said, ‘When you’re lean-ing down, still keep your strength. You can still go in and push weights, so that as soon as you start eating again you’ll go back quickly’. But, he said, ‘You gotta eat 6,000 calories a day, you’ve gotta train three hours.’”

Now eating six thousand calories may sound like a fun-filled takeaway Friday evening with your friends, but Jackman assured reporters that it wasn't junk food and candy that he had to eat, sadly it was all lean meats and veggies:

"Unfortunately it’s a lot [of chicken] and fish. I’m going to some kind of chicken hell at the end of this. I’ve literally murdered nations of chickens. Yes, I’m not the poster boy for the vegan movement, but it’s that and training hard and time.”

What's even more entertaining, is the story Hugh told about Dwayne's reaction to giving Jackman advice. The X-Men star told the website about how he would talk on the phone to Johnson regarding his fitness plan, but it would sometimes interfere with Dwayne's schedule:

“One of the coolest moments when I was speaking to him — he was on a movie at the time — and in the background someone knocked on his trailer door and he goes, ‘Hang on a second!’ He opens it up, he goes, ‘I’m talking to Wolverine, you tell them on set they can wait,’”

We love the idea of celeb pals helping each other workout and motivating them to maintain their Hollywood bods, and it's not just Dwayne Johnson and Hugh Jackman who are at it either.

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed

This sickeningly sexy couple just love working out together, be it in the gym or out exploring nature. Whatever they are doing it's working. I wonder if Ian would be willing to start a fitness class up? I'd definitely attend. .

Mandy Moore and Minka Kelly

What better way to get fit than with your gal pal? It's a great chance for a catch up too. Here are the girls working on their beach bods ready for '500 Days Of Summer,' let's just hope they don't get 'Tangled' up in the gym equipment.

Nina Dobrev and Sarah Hyland

Nina and Sarah busting their butts, quite literally, in the name of fitness. We bet the girls still had lots of fun working out together.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Ok, so Kanye isn't feeling it as much as Kim is. Let's face it, Kanye's basically all of us when your friend reminds you it's time to workout.

Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian

As the ancient proverb states "if you do a workout but don't publicize it, did it really happen?" Khloe and Kourtney love to hang out together and work on making those Kardashian booties as good as they can be, and they ensure the whole internet knows about it.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris

These two are just the cutest, working out together and for a charitable cause too. You guys!

I swear I would go to the gym more if I had a celebrity buddy cheering me on, especially if he were as sexy as Hugh Jackman. Praise be to the celebs who work out to transform themselves for movie roles and a high five to those who do it just to keep looking as fine as they do.

Which celebrity would you most like to work out with?
