Even though Sony struck a deal with Studios to allow Spider-Man to be part of the MCU after its failed second attempt at a franchise reboot, that doesn't mean the studio will stop contributing to the cinematic world of the webslinger. An animated film centered around Miles Morales as Spider-Man is currently in the works, directed by Bob Persichetti and written by Han Solo and The Lego Movie directors Chris Lord and Phil Miller.

We don't much about it yet in regard to casting, but a new rumor might have given us some insight into at least one famous voice we'll be hearing. In the latest Meet The Movie Press YouTube series, Jeff Sneider revealed that none other than Ice Cube was being considered for the role of Jefferson Davis, 's father.

To give you a little backstory, Jefferson is a very interesting character on his own, despite not being a rooftop-jumping superhero like his son. Before Miles was born, he was forced into becoming a S.H.I.E.L.D. mole in the criminal underworld after his brother got involved with the sleazy Turk Barrett (who we've seen in live-action in Daredevil and Luke Cage). His task got him into some pretty rough situations, mainly by being an enforcer for Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin.

Now, as with any rumor, we should take this with a grain of salt. However, if this piece of information is to be believed, it would mean would officially become a member of the Marvel Universe—who'd've seen that coming?

In early 2016, it was widely speculated (and requested by fans) that the rapper would be portraying J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Ice Cube eventually shot those rumors down in the most Ice Cubian of ways, saying:

"If I'm not playing Spider-Man, I'm not doing shit... I'm not about to play one of these side-busters."

Hmm... it seems he could make a compromise by playing 's father. Still great, if you ask me. Ice Cube would be a great choice for the role. In the comics, Jefferson's criminal past is shown to have hardened him. He's very supportive of his son and of his superhero endeavors, but also has a very commanding and intimidating presence. That's definitely something that Ice Cube could bring to the table. But again, until this is confirmed, take it with a grain of salt.

Is Ice Cube a good fit for the role of Miles Morales's father? Let me know in the comments!
