Ike Barinholtz has been a regular presence on our screens for the better part of two decades. Best known for his lead role of Morgan Tookers in The Mindy Project, he is also known for his film appearances in Neighbors and Suicide Squad — in which he portrayed the brutal prison warden, Griggs.

However, last month, Barinholtz was involved in a very scary stunt incident, which resulted in the actor suffering a broken neck. While filming his new movie The Pact, he fell from a high platform and subsequently ended up with two fractured cervical vertebrae in his neck.

A Positive Outlook

Speaking to People, Barinholtz revealed the extent of his injury before discussing his recovery. He commented:

"We knew something was wrong right away. ... It was scary and was touch and go for a while. Luckily, I’ve had great doctors who have really helped me with my recovery. I do as they tell me.”

He also revealed that he has to keep his neck stabilized in order to allow his 6th and 7th cervical vertebrae to heal. As for the neck brace, Barinholtz humorously commented on how fashionable it is:

“I have to wear an incredibly stylish neck brace for a while as the bone heals. ... It’s a cool look, especially in the summer.”

But thankfully, the actor's injury will not prevent him from working on the sixth and final season of , as it will be written into his character's storyline. He revealed:

"After the accident, I talked to Mindy [Kaling] and we agreed that the only option was writing it into the show. ... Luckily, on 'The Mindy Project' I play a character who could break his neck falling out of his bunk bed and it’s completely believable."

Despite the ordeal and its unforeseen circumstances, it seems like Barinholtz has a positive outlook as he's not afraid to use the injury to spread an important message. He also commented:

"Sometimes it takes getting hurt to realize how lucky you are to have great people in your life. ... My family has been taking amazing care of me, and Mindy and all the folks at the show have been so kind. Also, many friends have sent lots of food which is great — but I can’t exercise, so in a way, it’s exceptionally cruel."

It's truly great to see that Barinholtz has maintained his notoriously witty attitude in light of his recent injury. And whether you know him from The Mindy Project or , it's great to know that he'll overcome his neck injury to continue making us all smile for many more years to come.

Allow me to take this opportunity to wish Ike Barinholtz a very speedy recovery. Feel better soon, Ike!
