(WARNING: This post may contain spoilers for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and possibly Avengers: Infinity War)
MCU fans everywhere are eagerly awaiting the next #Avengers film, Infinity War, which will see our heroes take on mega-baddie Thanos as he attempts to harness the power of the Infinity Stones. The cast list for this film is massive, including every hero that has appeared in a #Marvel film so far. The film will also have Marvel's other major superhero team, the #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy, cross over into the Avenger's world for the first time.
Unfortunately, Infinity War's cast list may have dropped a significant spoiler for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, due to be released in May 2017. The spoiler relates to Karen Gillan's character, Nebula.
Nebula's Story So Far
As fans of the first Guardians film will remember, Nebula is one of Thanos's adopted daughters, and therefore the adoptive sister of #Gamora, one of the film's heroes. She plays an antagonistic role, at one point participating in a heated battle with Gamora. Despite losing an arm, she survives the events of the film, stealing a ship and zooming off to parts unknown.
It may be important to note that Nebula does display a flicker of affection for her sister:
"Of all the people I've known, I hated you the least." — Nebula to Gamora
This reflects the relationship the two shared in the comics. To use an analogy that Marvel fans will easily understand, Nebula is somewhat like the #Loki to Gamora's #Thor. Nebula will happily beat the crap out of her sister, but won't take well to anyone else who tries.
What's The Spoiler?
Nebula, played by #KarenGillan, has long been confirmed to return in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2; however, many assumed she would be returning as a villain. Her character summary on the #InfinityWar cast list names Nebula as a member of the Guardians, meaning that she is now on the side of good — or at least appears to be.
This may come as a surprise to some. Though Nebula had appeared alongside the Guardians in some promo shots for Vol. 2, that didn't necessarily mean she would be fighting alongside them. Now, it appears that she is.
This is possibly a move to keep Nebula handy and insert her easily into Infinity War. If the comic story Infinity Gauntlet is used as the basis for the film, the character could have a great role to play in the war to come.
